Outcome 4.9.179: Red flags- adults;

  • Signs severe respiratory distress – tachypnea, increased work of breathing, altered mental state
  • Signs of MI/C VS disease ‐ Associated chest pain, hx of IHD and/or risk factors for CV disease, gallop rhythms etc
  • History anaphylaxis
  • Signs of malignancy – Smoking hx, hemoptysis, weight loss
  • Signs of PE ‐ Sudden onset dyspnea +/‐ pleuritic chest pain, calf pain, risk factors for PE
  • Signs pneumonia ‐ High fever, pleuritic chest pain
  • Serious comorbidities i.e. type 1 Diabetes
  • Signs of pneumothorax – sudden onset, hx trauma, deviated trachea, asymmetrical breath sounds
